ShaftCoat® for Cold Trunnion Bearing Startup
Most wear and damage to the trunnion bearings and shafts occur during cold start-ups. Protect your trunnion bearings and shafts during start-ups with ShaftCoat®. ShaftCoat® is easy to apply and is fully compatible with petroleum and synthetic-based fluids that are commonly used for trunnion bearing lubrication.
When idled, the trunnion bearing service lubricant drains off the shaft and back into the oil sump, leaving the shaft dry and vulnerable to damage. This results in metal-to-metal contact during startups that creates friction and wear on the shaft and bushing. ShaftCoat® works to lubricate the trunnion bearing and prevent welding, galling, and surface deformation.
How to Use ShaftCoat®
Pour along the top of the trunnion shaft enough to provide a light coating to provide lubrication and minimize dry start up. ShaftCoat® is compatible with the typical petroleum and synthetic (group IV) lubricants used for this application.
