Description

Tectyl 5401W RC (Rust Converter) is a milky white, water-based preparation liquid used to stabilize and convert rusted steel surfaces prior to painting or coating. Unlike many traditional products, it does not contain phosphoric acid, making it non-hazardous, non-flammable, and environmentally safer.

It is particularly effective for cargo holds, decks, hatch covers, pipelines, winches, rails, and marine superstructures where complete sandblasting is difficult. In addition, it can be used on freshly sandblasted surfaces to prevent flash rusting before applying a protective coating.

Once applied, the product reacts within 3 hours to create a stable surface layer ready for recoating with compatible systems (alkyd, modified alkyds, chlorinated rubber, epoxy, polyurethane, and vinyl paints). For best results, top-coating should be applied within 48 hours.

With a VOC content of only 30 g/L, Tectyl™ 5401W RC is a sustainable choice for industries requiring effective rust conversion, passivation, and long-term coating compatibility.
