Description

Tectyl 558-AMC is a slightly thixotropic, solvent-based wax corrosion preventive compound engineered to protect metallic components in seams, joints, and creviced areas where corrosion risk is high. Its penetrating and water-displacing properties make it particularly effective for automotive and industrial applications.

At a dry film thickness of 50 µm, Tectyl™ 558-AMC provides robust resistance against environmental factors, including ≥ 21 days salt spray performance (ISO 9227) and ≥ 75 days humidity exposure (ISO 6270-2). It has also been tested to SFS 4086:2006 standards, confirming its corrosion prevention performance.

It cures to a semi-firm, slightly tacky waxy film that adheres strongly to metal surfaces, even in tight and concealed areas. For added durability, it is often used as a primer coat in two-layer systems, over which products like Tectyl™ 120, 120-EH, 121-LV, or 122-A are applied to achieve superior underbody corrosion resistance.

Tectyl™ 558-AMC is suitable for spray application with low-pressure air spray equipment, making it practical for large-scale automotive and industrial use. Removal is possible in the wet phase with Tectyl™ Biocleaner, Tectyl™ 150, or steam cleaning; in the cured phase, Tectyl™ Biocleaner or Tectyl™ 150 should be used.
